Judge-alone trial will be split into two sections

A Saskatoon teen accused of setting a classmate on fire will stand trial in the spring.

Prosecutor Ainsley Furlonger said the case against the 15-year-old will take place at Court of King's Bench in two segments. The first block will begin May 4, 2026, and go to May 29. The second will go from June 15-26.

The Crown is proceeding by direct indictment so there is no preliminary hearing. The teen chose trial by judge alone.
